The story of water security in Taiwan

Taiwan is characterized by high mountains, steep slopes and torrent water. The annual precipitation in Taiwan is about 2500 mm, which is ranked in top 10 all over the world. However, due to the special topography and uneven distribution of rainfall, the available clean water per person each year is only 1/5 of world average. Besides, highly developed activities in watershed causing landslides and sediment yield which not only decreases the life of reservoir but generates extremely high concentration of sediment.The water resource management in Taiwan is facing great challenge.The simplest but most difficult thing is having clean water!
