The Friends of the White River is a not-for-profit corporation formed to preserve and protect the White River. "This web site documents the access sites on the Wabash River from Huntington, Indiana to the confluence with the Ohio River. It includes pictures and descriptions of the access sites and their amenities. We personally visited the access sites. The first half of the river (from Huntington to Tecumseh) was done by boat. We then drove to the access sites on the second half of the river (from Terre Haute to the confluence with the Ohio)."

Wabash River Basin Commission (UWRBC) was enacted by the State Legislature in 2001 by House Bill 2119, under IC 14-30-4. It was established as a separate municipal corporation, which includes the area located in Adams, Huntington, Jay, and Wells counties that is drained by the Wabash River, including the tributaries of the Wabash River.
