Voronezhsky Biosphere Reserve (UNESCO-MAB)

Biosphere Reserve "Voronezhsky" is located in two regions of the Russian Federation (Lipetsk and Voronezh regions) and five municipalities (Usmansky, Verhne-Khavsky, Ramonsky, Novousmansky municipal districts and the Railway urban district of Voronezh city). Many rural settlements are located directly at the borders of the BR.
As a specially protected natural territory Voronezh State Nature Zapovednik was established in 1923 to protect the beaver. Later the Zapovednik became complex and perform the conservation of natural complexes island pine forest in Russian forest-steppe zone. In 1985, the Zapovednik was declared a biosphere reserve by UNESCO. On the territory of Zapovednik have been allocated core area and buffer zone.
