ANRA is a government entity created by the state legislature under the authorization of the Texas State constitution. It is recognized as an independent governmental agency authorized to construct, maintain, and operate any and all works necessary for the purpose of controlling, storing, and preserving water resources in the 17 county jurisdiction in the Neches River Basin.
The USGS, WRD National Research Program (NRP) and the Water Discipline at the Alaska Science Center have been cooperating to collect baseline and process-based water quality data in the Yukon River Basin (2001-2005) as part of a research-based NASQAN study to understand the Basin’s response to climate change.
In August 2002, the transnational Elbe (Czech: Labe) river catchment experienced the most severe economic damage ever caused by river flooding in Europe. The Elbe catchment suffers from a wide range of flooding issues that are typical for Europe, including flash-flooding in the mountainous regions and large inundation volumes in the lowlands.
