1. Getting Started

• Click any layer or feature on the map to view its attributes and details
• ⬇ Use the green arrows to download GeoJSON data
  Always verify data sources and citations before use

2. River Basin & Catchment Selection

Main selector: choose Continent → Region → Basin Group

• Activate multiple layers from the right panel
• Each layer can be toggled on/off independently
• Upload status indicates loading progress
• Large datasets are automatically cached for performance
• Unavailable datasets are marked as "not available"
• The deepest level corresponds to sub-watersheds

3. Add OpenStreetMap (OSM) Layers

OSM data can be added and automatically clipped to your selected area using three methods:

• a) Click a sub-watershed to automatically clip data
• b) Use the search tool to define an area and then use drawing tools to select a target area
• c) Use drawing tools to manually define your boundary

All OSM layers are clipped to your selected catchment or custom area.

4. Available OSM Data Layers

• Hydrography: rivers, streams
• Water management: canals, irrigation, drainage
• Water bodies: lakes, reservoirs, wetlands
• Infrastructure: roads, transport networks
• Land use & land cover

All layers are clipped to the selected catchment area. OSM data can be downloaded only if small areas are selected

5. Drawing & Editing Tools

• Create points, lines and polygons
• Edit geometries and update attributes at any time
• Drag vertices or reshape features in edit mode

6. Export & Data Download

• Export individual layers
• Export all visible layers combined
• All exports are provided in GeoJSON format
• Standard Projection for download and upload : EPSG:4326 - WGS 84

7. Quick Map Interactions

• Click features to open popup information
• Use edit mode to move or reshape features
• Use Reset to clear OSM or user layers

8. Troubleshooting

• No OSM data visible? Zoom in closer
• Wrong location? Reselect the catchment
• Duplicate layers? Use Reset OSM
• Large popup content? Scroll inside the popup
• Downloaded file cannot be downloaded again: After downloading a file (SHP or GeoJSON) and then deleting it using the drawing tool trash, it is currently not possible to download the same file again. You will need to reload the entire map system.
