Across Mahakali river : Transboundary collaborative programme (ICIMOD)

Kailash Sacred Landscape Conservation and Development Initiative is a Transboundary collaborative programme, covering parts of Pithoragarh district India; Far West Nepal; and Pulan County of Tibetan Autonomous Region of China. A multidisciplinary team went on the expedition along the river Mahakali within the Api Nampa Conservation Area to understand the collection of Yarsagumba (Ophiocordyceps sinensis), a high value medicinal product found in Alpine region of Far Western Nepal. The video is a collection of expedition learnings, experiences and voices from the ground. It highlights the competing claims over the collection rights of Yarsagumba among different communities. It further presents local level measures to maximize the benefit accrue from the limited resource.
